Company History

December 2005 The MaxSonar-EZ1 was released for sale to the public.
July 2007 We expanded our product line into 4 additional LV-MaxSonar-EZ sensors (MB1000, MB1010, MB1020, MB1030, MB1040) this was in addition to the updated MB1010 LV-MaxSonar-EZ1. Each sensor is calibrated to a factory specified beam width and tested with dowels and large flat wall like targets.
September 2008 We released the MB7001 LV-MaxSonar-WR1 sensor for sale to the public. The sensor is a robust high performance outdoor sensor.
July 2009
We released the XL-MaxSonar-EZ, XL-MaxSonar-AE, & XL-MaxSonar-WR sensor product lines. (10 new products total). New features for these products include:
  • Automatic calibration
  • Increased noise tolerance
  • Centimeter resolution.
March 2010 The MaxSonar products demonstrate a 200,000+ MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure).
August 2009 - June 2011 During this time we added an additional 20 stand product variations for retail sale. Many semi-custom sensors have been created to match application specific uses for OEM clients.
June 2011 The previously developed F-Option is added for retail sale on our site. This product addition allows the rugged XL-MaxSonar-WR & XL-MaxSonar-WRC products to be used in a broader range of hazardous or corrosive chemical environments.
April 2012 We released the HRLV-MaxSonar-EZ sensor product line. (5 new products total). New features for these products include:
  • Automatic calibration
  • Increased noise tolerance
  • TTL serial output
  • Millimeter resolution
July 2012 We released the HRXL-MaxSonar-WR sensor product line. (4 Products total). New features include:
  • Automatic calibration
  • Increased noise tolerance
  • TTL serial output
  • Millimeter resolution.
Made available with either RS232 serial or TTL serial outputs.
August 2012 We released the I2CXL-MaxSonar-EZ, I2CXL-MaxSonar-WR, & I2CXL-MaxSonar-WRC sensor product lines. (7 new products total). New features for these products are I2C bus interface allowing up to 127 sensors to be controlled by a single I2C bus master.
September 2012 We released the LV-ProxSonar-EZ ultrasonic proximity sensor. Sensor line features digital high/low pin for proximity detection at distances of 7 feet, 5 feet, 3 feet, 2 feet, or 1 foot. Also released, were the MB7369 and MB7389 sensors as an addition to the HRXL-MaxSonar-WR sensor line. These sensors have the same “Most Likely” filter that is featured on the popular MB7092, but adds the 1mm resolution of the MB7360.
October 2012 We released the USB-ProxSonar-EZ ultrasonic proximity sensor. This sensor features plug and play connectivity using a standard Micro-B USB connector that is found on most cell phones to connect to a computer.
November 2012 We released the HRUSB-MaxSonar-EZ sensor line. This sensor line features USB connectivity using a standard Micro-B USB connector, 1 mm resolution, and a maximum range of 5 meters.
February 2013 We released the 10 meter MB7363, MB7366, MB7383, and MB7386 as additions to the HRXL-MaxSonar-WR sensor line. The MB7363 and MB7383 sensors feature high sensitivity for soft target detection at long ranges. The MB7366 and MB7386 are a 10-meter version of the MB7360 and MB7380 sensor.
May 2013 We released the MB7364 and MB7384 Ultrasonic snow depth sensors. These sensors have been optimized for snow depth measurement.
October 2013 The HRXL-MaxSonar-WR sensor line was expanded with the introduction of the MB7334, MB7344, MB7354, and MB7354 with improved snow depth and grain level measurement algorithms. These algorithms increase the sensor’s reading to reading stability.

Now Working closely with IOT developers of new products to solve more problems.

Our Sensors are Made in the USA

Manufacturing electronic components in the United States has been one of our most important aspects of our organization. Customer service and Quality are very important as well. With the low prices we advertise when compared to our competitors, we have been asked where our products are manufactured. When we state “Our products are made in the USA,” we have many varied responses. With electronics, it is almost impossible to be 100% made in the USA, especially with components like micro-controllers, Op amps, and other small electronic components. With this being said, the FTC has published guidelines for products that would qualify as “Made in the USA”. To read the full FTC’s “Complying with Made in the USA Standard” document click here. Made in the USA holds a higher standard of production procedures and quality control than manufacturing in other markets.

MaxSonar Creation

All of our core components used in the MaxBotix Inc., sensors have gone through QA/QC and are tested in our facility after the sensors have been made. Every sensor MaxBotix Inc. sells is engineered, assembled, programmed, calibrated, and packaged in the USA. From receiving the raw material to the final product ready for sale, there are significant transformations that take place.

Our “Made in the USA” claim and use of it:

The basic components of our products have gone through a significant transformation from the raw materials to the finished product that is purchasable through our facility. The cost of labor to create, program, and test our products far exceeds that of all the raw core components Finally, there is a significant amount of labor that goes into the creation of our product from the engineering to the testing of all of our products.
